When close friends, relatives, familial relations, co-workers etc. make it in life, it’s a plus. It expands your cycle of influence.
It means you have someone to lean on when in need. Even if we don’t require their support, we may learn from them one or two things.
However, unusually, when people succeed, some friends around, in trying to compare themselves, feel inadequate, expecially when they can’t see themselves being a par with their friends(successful).
This breeds envy and further leads to bitterness. And when one gets held up by bitterness, evil sets in.
We should see those close to us who have achieved greatly in their lives as an avenue to learn to better us,and not to make unnecessary comparison or envy them.
All we need is the humility to accept the reality of our situation and the responsibility to own it, thereby finding the solution(which they could have).
