Hung Your Gown of Pride

When close friends, relatives, familial relations, co-workers etc. make it in life, it’s a plus. It expands your cycle of influence.

It means you have someone to lean on when in need. Even if we don’t require their support, we may learn from them one or two things.

However, unusually, when people succeed, some friends around, in trying to compare themselves, feel inadequate, expecially when they can’t see themselves being a par with their friends(successful).

This breeds envy and further leads to bitterness. And when one gets held up by bitterness, evil sets in.

We should see those close to us who have achieved greatly in their lives as an avenue to learn to better us,and not to make unnecessary comparison or envy them.

All we need is the humility to accept the reality of our situation and the responsibility to own it, thereby finding the solution(which they could have).

Arkad was a man of many great fortunes [The Richest Man in Babylon]. His two mates, realizing he commanded great wealth and they struggling in life, went up to him, for Arkad to teach them to make wealth. With humility, he helped them with the knowledge and the experience he had in wealth creation.

These two men were honest and humble, so they accepted their fate and took responsibility to learn from a successful friend. They were not envious of his success. He too did not look down on them. He did not think they were lazy for which reason they were not making it in life.

We therefore, sometimes, have to betray the monster called ego in us, and learn from friends, family persons, co-workers etc. who have done it before.

And when they come to us, we must hung the gown of pride, do help because everyone have been assisted in one way or the other.

May we not envy successful people but learn, may we put pride aside but seek help at the right quarters, and may we not be too proud to give assistance when needed by others.
